Digital advertising is slowly gaining popularity in Southern Philippines most specially for price-conscious companies.

RichMedia Network, Inc., the pioneer in introducing digital signage for indoor advertising in the Visayas and Mindanao, is now looking at expanding its digital screen deployment specifically in port areas around Visayas and Mindanao, as more client-companies are demanding for such kind of advertising channel, said the company's general manager Jeremy Ryan L. Huang.

Leading the trend with a digital signage set up in Ayala Center Cebu a year ago, RichMedia has grown and has now penetrated high-traffic areas such as Port of Cebu, Iloilo Port, and soon the Mactan Cebu International Airport.

This new advertising channel, which is taking advantage of technology innovation, is a display device used as an indoor or in-store sign to present constantly changing videos, text or animations.

He said this new concept has gained popularity among companies, who wanted to expand their advertising reach, including the cost-conscious small and medium firms.

It is aimed at addressing the concern by providing advertisers with a new, dynamic, and cost-effective medium as opposed to the static billboards and posters.

According to Huang, this kind of medium has slowly gained the interest of small to medium companies in Cebu, and other parts of the country.

Already, the company has deployed a total of seven LCD screens, four strategically set up inside the Ayala Center Cebu shopping mall while the rest are in Cebu and Iloilo Ports.

The company has easily attracted a pool of over 30 advertisers most of which are brands targeting different markets, depending on the location.

At the moment, Huang said the company is negotiating with prospective partners in Cebu and the rest of the Visayas, and Mindanao, to introduce this new advertising gateway.

"This platform will allow small companies, or SMEs to have platform to promote their products and strengthen their branding strategies," Huang added.

Sensitive about the cost-component of the service, Huang said RichMedia is only charging as low at P3,000 a month for a 10-second video presentation of a company or product roll out in 80 spots a day, or P1 per slot.

He said this is not intended to compete with existing advertising channels, however, this concept will provide wider options to advertisers to reach different segment of audience, targeting the mall goers, passengers, among others. -Ehda M. Dagooc
